How soon will I see hair growth after surgery?

Hair growth after a transplant follows a gradual timeline. For most patients, new hairs begin emerging around 2–3 months post-surgery. However, Afro-textured hair sometimes appears slightly later because curled follicles grow differently than straight hair. Around the 4th to 6th month, growth becomes more noticeable and by 9–12 months, you will see significant improvement in density and texture. Full maturation including thicker shafts and natural curl pattern can take up to 12–18 months. This extended timeframe is normal and expected with Afro hair due to its slower but fuller growth characteristics.
