Is smoking or alcohol allowed before surgery?

We strongly recommend avoiding both smoking and alcohol for at least one week before your hair transplant. Smoking reduces oxygen supply to the scalp and significantly slows healing, increasing the risk of graft failure. This is especially important for Afro hair, where follicles curve and require delicate placement. Alcohol can thin the blood and contribute to excessive bleeding during the procedure. Additionally, heavy drinking may interfere with anesthesia. Quitting temporarily or ideally long term improves your overall healing, ensures better graft survival and reduces risks such as swelling or prolonged redness. Giving your body time to detox before surgery leads to a smoother experience and more predictable results.
