Are hair transplants painful?

Are hair transplants painful?

02 Sep, 2022

Are hair transplants painful? The hair transplant surgery itself is not painful. However, before starting the procedure, a local anaesthesia will be administered to numb the area where hair will be removed and transplanted. You may experience a minute or so of discomfort. We go to great lengths to ensure you stay as comfortably as possible. Though hair transplant procedures are generally considered relatively painless, there may be some soreness on the scalp post procedure which typically lasts about a day. Your physician can prescribe a pain medication to help manage this discomfort.

Some commonly asked questions relating to pain associated with a hair transplant surgery are as follows –

Is the DFI hair transplant surgery painful?

No. The only part of DFI procedure during which you will feel pain is the local anaesthesia with numbing injections. The injections take 1-2 minutes to show effect. At Evolved Clinics in Perth, Australia we use vibrating massage and a cooling device to the area being injected to “distract the nerves” and reduce any discomfort from the needle.

Is there any pain expected during recovery after a hair transplant?

It’s normal to experience some discomfort at the transplant site for about 24 hours post procedure. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen are normally sufficient to manage such discomfort. A post surgery prescription will include medicines to ease pain.

Well, ok. But how long does it take to resume work after a hair transplant?

The hair transplant procedure at Evolved Clinics in Perth is an outpatient procedure, meaning you will return home the same day of your surgery. You’ll want to take it easy in the first day or two following the procedure— it may be a good idea to catch up with your video streaming build-up! Luckily, the hair transplant procedure at Evolved Clinics does not involve stitches, resulting in absolutely minimal downtime (unlike FUT, a.k.a. the strip method). You should be able to return to most normal activities, including work, in about 3 days.

While no surgery can be completely painless and some short-lived level of discomfort is possible, a hair transplant surgery is relatively an easy experience for most hair loss sufferers.
